Chinese President Xi Jinping stated during the general debate in the UN General Assembly on Sep. 22, 2020: “China will increase its national contribution by adopting more effective policies and measures to reach the carbon emission peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060. Although there were different opinions on how China control carbon emissions, the "30·60" target set by President Xi ended all disputes, doubts, and entanglements. China now entered an era of comprehensive carbon emission constraints.
On November 22, 2020, President Xi Jinping emphasized in the“Guardian Earth”side event of the G20 Summit in Riyadh that China is committed to climate change and will keep its promise in implementation unswervingly - this is in the fifth statement of the determination within two months, showing China’s resolution and confidence in the fight against climate change.
The Science-Based Target (SBTi) was initiated by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the World Resources Institute (WRI), the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC).The overarching goal of the initiative is to set scientific carbon targets as standard business practices by 2020, setting the target as an essential part of sustainable management practices to help companies play a major role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions globally .
